At approximately 9:00 a.m. a lone gunman, believed to be disgruntled worker that may have lost his job the day before, opened fire outside the Empire State Building, killing one person and wounding four, additional injuries were caused as people tried to flee the scene.  The gunman was then killed by police.

 

The injured have been taken Bellevue, Cornell and NYU hospitals. The motive of the shooting is believed to be because of a dispute between two co-workers.

The last shooting at the Empire state building was in 1997 when a 69 year old man killed one person and wounding six before taking his own life with a self inflicted gunshot to the head.

The shooting is not believed to be in a terrorism.
